This past weekend, I headed down to Tennessee with two lovely gals from here, and we met three other lovely gals from Nashville for a weekend of… crafting. First of all, let me say how much fun it was to get together with a group of girls for a weekend with no responsibilities. I should probably do that more often than once every…five years or so.
Second, I actually completed some projects, and was totally impressed by some of the things the others made. 80% of the projects were sewing. I crocheted, and there were some painting projects, but otherwise, sewing.
And I’ve never seen so much embroidery going on in a group of 20- and 30-somethings.
Check out this cute apron Stephanie crafted. (Sorry for cutting off your head, Steph. It was unintentional.)
Here are a set of four fabric bookmarks Amy (who, inexplicably, doesn’t blog) and I made. They are deceptively simple looking. Don’t let ‘em fool you. Or maybe it was just us.
My favorite craft, thanks to a pattern brought by Lillian, was the flock of owls we crafted.
I made this one for Sydney…but she isn’t getting it until her birthday, so don’t tell her, ok?
I had such a good, good time. I surely hope we can pull that off again next year. Until then, I have some sewing skills to develop to keep up with the Nashville crew.

Love it! The picture of me is better with the head cut off, I assure you!
How did you get such a group together? This sounds so fun! I’d love to learn how to sew, but just can’t find the time. And I’m trying to downsize… “life”, I guess you’d say, by getting rid of all things that are cluttering me, my house, etc. Can’t help but save a few things for future crafty days…I know I’ll have a little time eventually.
@April – it was a couple friends of mine and some friends of theirs – all who love to craft. I understand the uncluttering, but yes – I tend to hold on to crafty materials longer than I should as well. It was fun because we used each others scraps of things that weekend, so it helped get rid of some odds and ends. Good times, though!
