A little over a month ago, included in the little box of jewelry my grandmother sent me that had belonged to my great grandmother, there was a really cool pair of earrings. They were black and beaded, and reminded me of a flower. And they were clip-on. (I would have followed this up with a snarky “do they even make clip-on earrings anymore?” comment, but then for Christmas my mom got me a necklace/earring set and what-d0-you-know they were clip-ons. So yes, yes they do.)
Not only were they clip on, but they were large and awkward on my ears. But I thought the size and shape would make a perfect cocktail ring.
I bought a pack of adjustable ring bases with flat tops, and removed the clip part gently from the back of the earrings.
Then I just used some hot glue to attach the earring to the ring base. (I know, I know…hot glue for me brings up some terrible memories of “crafts” from the local fairs and festivals. But it really was my best option to get in all those tiny cracks without breaking the ring backing).
I sat them in some foam upright to dry.
Then I put it on to try it out. Isn’t it lovely? It’s got me wondering what else I could repurpose around here.

so pretty!! and great job re-purposing!
I am so happy that I am the proud recipient of one of the pair. Thanks for thinking of me and making me cry! I remember her wearing these earrings. I love you Kelli!
