Little Christmas Trees

I don’t exactly know how it happened – I think it was an unexpected receipt of two small Christmas trees. One a fenton glass version from my aunt, and the other a wiry, sequenced one from…well, I don’t remember where it came from. But I was smitten with miniature trees.

So last year I mentioned to my mother-in-law that I thought I’d like to start buying one or two a year for decoration. I mean, I’ve had my actual Christmas tree decorations bought since before I had a house. I knew it would be trimmed out in blue, white and silver. Turns out our house follows a similar color scheme, so many of the decorations I’ve eyed over the years have the same colors. But the truth it, in all my practicality, I have a hard time actually purchasing Christmas decor. (Or any seasonal decor for that matter, for the very fact that it is seasonal. Seems far wiser to invest in season-less items for the home. Curses to my practicality!)

Anyway, here they are – the first year I’ve been able to line up my meager “collection” of miniature Christmas trees in the center of our living room. And I like ‘em.

So what about your decorations? Are they a mixed up beautiful mess of random things you’ve received over the years? Or a carefully selected and coordinated set of specific items specially placed?
