All my friends have been making these really cool magazine bowls out of their old magazines – A really cool idea, and I like it. I do. (There’s even one in Home, Paper, Scissors) So I started tearing out my pages in anticipation of making one, and so far those pages haven’t made it off my desk. So when I saw a tutorial for this project over at How About Orange (another blog I’ve enjoyed for at least a couple years), I knew it was something I could do in ten minutes flat. And honestly, right now ten minutes is about all I have to devote to crafting.
First, tear out a page from a magazine or catalog. Grab your paper trimmer (I love this one), and cut 9 strips of paper 3/4″ wide. Leave three strips the full length, cut 1″ off three of the strips, 2″ off two strips, and cut the final strip to about 3 1/2″.
Next, fold over both ends of each of the strips in a figure eight pattern, and secure with a glue dot, staple or double-sided tape.
Repeat for each strip, except the shortest one, which you just secure as a loop.
Arrange the strips adjacent to one another, using the largest loops first, and working your way down to the smallest.
Finally, secure the loop in the middle.

so very cool!!
Fun!
Kelli, this is so cool! Thanks for sharing.
Gorgeous. I’ve also done smaller strips and curled them with the edge of scissors.
I saw those on How About Orange. They are all over Etsy. I think I’m going to make them for my Christmas presents, since they are going to be all homemade this year!
